Recent Centrelink Payment Increases
The Centrelink pension rates were thus updated effective March 20, 2025. Single Age Pensioners will get an increase in their payments, by $4.60 per fortnight, to $1,149. In comparison, Couple Age Pensioners will have their payment raised, $3.50 per person per fortnight, taking the total to $866.10 each. These changes stem from the biannual indexation done in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI), so that the purchasing power of support payments may be maintained.
January 2025 Adjustments
Various Centrelink payments were increased on January 1, 2025, due to the regular indexation. Youth Allowance for persons living at home was increased to $477.10 a fortnight; $670.30 a fortnight is provided for living away from home. Austudy maximum payments were raised to $845.80 for clients having dependent children. A $5.80 increase took the Carer’s allowance to $159.30 a fortnight. The adjustments were meant to relieve students and carers from financial burden.
Upcoming April 2025 Centrelink Bonus
Although limited details exist when it comes to the specificity of this Centrelink bonus in April 2025, it is worthwhile to note that Centrelink payments are regularly indexed every six months, in March and September. Such indexing serves to calibrate payments according to inflation and the cost of living. Hence, the latest increases occurred in March 2025, and another round is due in September 2025.
